Abstract:
In this method, a solution FS is supplied to a region on one surface side of a forward osmosis membrane that is provided with a semipermeable membrane and a porous base material disposed on at least one surface thereof, and a solution DS having a higher solute concentration than the solution FS is supplied to a region on the other surface side so as to transfer a solvent contained in the solution FS into the solution DS through the forward osmosis membrane, thereby producing a solution in which the solution DS has a reduced solute concentration, wherein the supply pressure P1 of the solution FS and the supply pressure F2 of the solution DS satisfy the formula: 0.5 kPa ≤ P1-P2 ≤ 700 kPa.
