In the disclosed method, in a stator-forming step, a coil conductor (3) is formed that is formed from connecting linear sections (31) and bridge sections (32). Next, a plurality of split cores (25) that are formed by splitting a stator core (2) in the peripheral direction (C) at alternating slot (23) formation positions are attached to the coil conductor (3). Afterwards, an outer peripheral ring (26) that has been heated is fitted to the outer periphery of the plurality of split cores (25), forming a stator (1). In a rectifying step, the circularity of the stator (1) is increased by means of reheating to stator (1) to a predetermined temperature while in the state of the outer peripheral ring (26) of the stator (1) being restrained and the circularity of the stator (1) being corrected.
