Abstract:
Provided is a method for producing a surface-modified pearlite, by which a surface-modified pearlite is able to be produced at low temperatures, and which is capable of suppressing the production cost. Also provided are: a filtration assistant obtained using this method for producing a surface-modified pearlite; a filtration method using this filtration assistant; and a surface-modified pearlite which is able to be produced at low temperatures. This method is characterized by comprising: a preparation step wherein a pearlite and an aluminum salt are added into an aqueous solution of an alkali metal hydroxide; and a heating step wherein the solution obtained in the preparation step is heated.
