Abstract:
The present invention produces a terminal-modified polymer by performing a polymerization reaction of a vinyl aromatic monomer and/or a conjugated diene monomer while in the presence of an anionic polymerization initiator, and thereafter, stopping the polymerization reaction by adding an alkoxy aluminum compound thereto. Alternatively, it is possible to produce a terminal-modified polymer by stopping the polymerization reaction by adding an aluminum halide compound instead of the alkoxy aluminum compound, and thereafter, reacting the product thereof with a C1-4 lower alcohol. The obtained terminal-modified polymer exhibits improved silica dispersion properties and is usable as a compounding agent for a rubber composition to be used in the pneumatic tire of a vehicle.
