Abstract:
The present invention is a method for producing tetrahydrofuran by means of a cyclodehydration reaction of 1,4-butanediol in the presence of an acid catalyst having a pKa value of no greater than 4 in a reaction vessel, wherein a starting material liquid containing 1,4-butanediol made available to the reaction contains 0.01-0.35 wt% of 2-(4-hydroxybutoxy)-tetrahydrofuran and 1-1000 wt ppm inclusive by concentration of nitrogen atoms of an amine and/or amide.
