Abstract:
Provided is a power steering device comprising a rack shaft (7) obtained by joining a first member on which rack teeth are formed and a second member (7b) serving as a ball screw shaft on which a shaft-side ball screw groove (42a) is formed, wherein: the shaft-side ball screw groove (42a) is ground into the second member (7b) by having a grindstone (51) spin and revolve around the second member (7b) while causing the second member (7b) to spin about an axis (Z) thereof as the axis of rotation so as to fulfill a machining condition "g/(5×p) < w < g/p", where w is the rotational speed of the second member (7b) during the grinding of the shaft-side ball screw groove (42a), g is the rotational speed of the grindstone (51) during the grinding of the shaft-side ball screw groove (42a), and p is the length of one circumference around the axis of rotation of the shaft-side ball screw groove (42a).
