Abstract:
A method for producing titanium dioxide particles for use in photovoltaic cells. The process comprises the steps of preparing an aqueous solution of a titanium salt, precipitating the acidic titanium salt with an ammonium hydroxide while maintaining the temperature from 20 DEG C to 95 DEG C. The precipitate is filtered, washed with water until the conductivity of water is less than 500 microohms and then drying and calcining the precipitate. The obtained particles are milled until they range in size from 0.1 to 10 microns. The titanium dioxide having a high porosity, high bulk density and high surface area is used in photovoltaic cells.
