Abstract:
A method for producing trans-rich-1,4-bis(aminomethyl)cyclohexane comprises the steps of: adding an alkali metal compound and XDA to 1,4-bis(aminomethyl)cyclohexane and then heating the resultant mixture to isomerize 1,4-bis(aminomethyl)cyclohexane in such a manner that the content of a trans form of 1,4-bis(aminomethyl)cyclohexane becomes more than 70% by mass relative to the total amount of a cis form of 1,4-bis(aminomethyl)cyclohexane and the trans form of 1,4-bis(aminomethyl)cyclohexane; and, subsequent to the isomerization step, purifying the isomerized 1,4-bis(aminomethyl)cyclohexane by distillation. The alkali metal compound comprises at least one compound selected from the group consisting of an alkali metal hydride, an alkali metal amide and an alkyl alkali metal. In the isomerization step, the amount of XDA to be added is 0.01 mol or more and less than 4 mol relative to 100 mol of 1,4-bis(aminomethyl)cyclohexane, and a dimer formed from one molecule of 1,4-bis(aminomethyl)cyclohexane and one molecule of XDA and a trimer formed from two molecules of 1,4-bis(aminomethyl)cyclohexane and one molecule of XDA are produced wherein the content of the dimer is 5% by mass or more and less than 75% by mass relative to the total amount of the dimer and the trimer.
