Abstract:
Provided is a method for producing uncrimped short fibers of excellent water dispersibility more efficiently. A method for producing uncrimped short fibers by spinning at a spinning rate of at least 600 m/min and cutting the fiber tow to lengths of not more than 35 mm at a rate equal to or greater than said spinning rate is characterized in satisfying the requirements (I)-(III): (I) the unstretched multifilament immediately after spinning is made into a fiber tow as such or bundling multiple strands; (II) said bundled fiber tow is cut continually without being placed in a can; and (III) the method has a step for applying hydrophilic oil at one or more points from the unstretched multifilament immediately after spinning until prior to fiber tow cutting.
