Abstract:
Provided is a method for safely and stably producing at a high yield acrolein and acrylic acid, or methacrolien and methacrylic acid, wherein, in vapor-phase catalytic oxidation of propylene, isobutylene, etc., the occurrence of an abnormal reaction, said abnormal reaction being induced by a phenomenon that the temperature of a catalyst packed within a reaction tube is considerably higher in the starting gas material-outlet side than in the starting gas material-inlet side, can be avoided.
A method using a reaction tube provided with a plurality of catalyst layers that are formed along the flow direction of a starting gas material, wherein the catalyst and catalyst packing are designed in such a manner that the relationship between the conversion ratio of the starting material giving the maximum yield of a target product and the conversion ratio of the starting material at which the magnitude relation between the maximum temperature of catalytic layer (Zin) located closest to the reaction gas-inlet side and the maximum temperature of catalytic layer (Zout) that is located closest to the reaction gas-outlet side is reversed satisfies a specific requirement: 0.5≤Cmax-Ccrs≤5 [wherein Cmax represents the conversion ratio of the starting material giving the maximum yield of a target product; and Ccrs represents the conversion ratio of the starting material at which, when the conversion ratio of the starting material is altered, the magnitude relation between the maximum temperature (Tin) of catalytic layer (Zin) and the maximum temperature (Tout) of catalytic layer (Zout) is reversed].
