Abstract:
Provided is an industrially advantageous method for producing an unsaturated carboxylic acid amide composition with which it is possible to obtain an unsaturated carboxylic acid amide composition that can be used as a fine chemical such as a pharmaceutical, agrochemical, polymer material, functional material, or intermediate thereof. The method for producing an unsaturated carboxylic acid amide composition of the invention is characterized in being a method for producing an unsaturated carboxylic acid amide composition comprising a first step for chlorination of an unsaturated carboxylic acid by thionyl chloride and a second step for obtaining an unsaturated carboxylic acid amide composition the primary component of which is an unsaturated carboxylic acid amide by reacting a chlorination product of the unsaturated carboxylic acid obtained by the first step and an amine, wherein the amount of thionyl chloride used is 0.5-times to 3.0-times the amount of unsaturated carboxylic acid in terms of moles and/or the chlorine-containing compound is separated and removed using an adsorbent once the second step is completed.
