Title:
METHOD FOR PRODUCING WATER-ATOMIZED METAL POWDER
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2020/075815
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided is a method for producing water-atomized metal powder using a low-cost and high-productivity water atomization method, the method being capable of improving apparent density and amorphization rate even for metal powder having an Fe concentration of 82.9-86.0 at% as the iron concentration. In the method for producing water-atomized metal powder, primary cooling water is injected in a region where the average temperature of a molten metal stream is at least 100°C higher than the melting point from a plurality of directions so that the convergence angle becomes 10° to 25°, the convergence angle being the angle formed between the direction in which the molten metal stream collides with the primary cooling water from one direction of the plurality of directions and the direction in which the molten metal stream collides with the primary cooling water from any of the other directions. Secondary cooling water is injected, after the elapse of at least 0.0004 second after the collision with the primary cooling water and in a region where the average temperature of the metal powder is at least the melting point and not more than the melting point + 50°C, under the condition of a collision pressure with the metal powder of at least 10 MPa.
