Abstract:
A method for producing a water-soluble polymer according to the present invention includes a hydrolysis step in which an N-vinylcarboxylic acid amide (co)polymer is hydrolyzed, wherein the hydrolysis step includes a removal step for removing aldehydes from a hydrolysis reaction solution, and the removal step is started at the timing when the hydrolysis rate X(%) of the polymer is 0≤X≤40.
