Abstract:
A method for producing wettable cathode carbon blocks, which involves wettable cathode
carbon blocks used in aluminum reduction cell, especially a method for producing
drained carbon blocks used in diversion-type aluminum reduction cell. It includes
formulating, vibratory compacting the cathode body, vibratory compacting
the composite-layer on the cathode body and baking; It is characterized in that,
TiB2 added into the formulation of the composite layer on the cathode
body is grainy TiB2 –carbon composite material. The present
method can effectively increase the TiB2 amount in the composite-layer, the
thickness of the composite-layer can be up to 20-200mm. By changing the shape of
the indentor of a mold, hetero- typical cathode-carbon blocks with reclining angles
and grooves on its surface can be made. It can satisfy the requirements of making
grooves and reclining angles of 2-15 º on the working surface of the cathode.
The cathode carbon blocks can resist the abrasion of cryolite and have less deformity,
so they can be used as the drained carbon blocks of diversion-type aluminum reduction
cell.
