Title:
METHOD FOR PRODUCING WIRE ROD FROM A HEAT-RESISTANT ALUMINIUM ALLOY
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2018/063023
Kind Code:
A8
Abstract:
The invention relates to the field of metallurgy and can be used for producing articles for electrical and technical applications, which can function at higher temperatures. A method for producing a wire rod from a heat-resistant aluminium alloy is provided, said alloy comprising zirconium as a main doping element in an amount of 0.20 to 0.52 wt%, wherein the method comprises: preparing a melt, producing a cast bar of infinite length by crystallising the melt, producing a wire rod of infinite length by hot deformation of the cast bar, winding the wire rod into coils of measured length, and thermally treating the wire rod coils by heating and soaking at a pre-determined temperature. Furthermore, the crystallisation of the melt is performed at a temperature that is higher than the alloy liquidus temperature by 5°C; the maximum temperature of the wire rod following hot deformation is maintained at the level of no higher than 300°C; the heat treatment of the wire rod coils is performed at a temperature of no higher than 415°C for a period of time of up to 144 hours, wherein a heating rate of up to 15°C/hour is applied when the coils are heated within the temperature range of 300-400°C. The technical result is in increasing the heat resistance of the aluminium alloy while ensuring the desired electrical conductivity, which is achieved without prolonged soaking during the heat treatment.
