The present invention: introduces a vector including a gene that codes a protein xylose transferase, into a plant cell; causes the protein xylose transferase to be expressed inside the plant cell; links xylose to a serine residue of a core protein in the plant cell, by the action of the protein xylose transferase; and produces a xylose-modified protein.
