Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for producing an yttrium oxide-stabilized zirconium oxide aqueous sol having extremely good transparency, wherein heating conditions are milder than those of conventional methods, and secondary aggregation of obtained colloidal particles rarely occurs. Also disclosed is a method for producing an organic solvent sol. The method for producing an yttrium oxide-stabilized zirconium oxide aqueous sol is characterized by comprising a step wherein a mixed aqueous solution, which is obtained by dissolving a carboxylic acid salt of yttrium and zirconium oxyacetate in water at a Y/(Y + Zr) atomic ratio of 0.10-0.60, is subjected to a hydrothermal treatment at 160-280˚C for two hours or longer.
