Disclosed is a method for producing (Z)-1-phenyl-1-diethylaminocarbonyl-2-aminomethyl cyclopropane or a hydrochloride thereof which comprises a step for obtaining (Z)-1-phenyl-1-diethylaminocarbonyl-2-aminomethyl cyclopropane by bringing (Z)-1-phenyl-1-diethylaminocarbonyl-2-phthalimidomethyl cyclopropane into contact with an aqueous methylamine solution having a concentration of 1-25% by weight and reacting them with each other.
