Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a float glass for chemical strengthening, whereby warpage subsequent to chemical strengthening can be effectively suppressed, and processes, such as a polishing process, preceding the chemical strengthening process can be eliminated or simplified. In this method for production of float glass for chemical strengthening, molten glass (1) is flowed into a molten metal bath (5), and is molded to sheet form as the molten glass (1) cools while advancing over the bath surface of the molten metal bath (5). Where the viscosity of the molten glass (1) flowing into the molten metal bath (5) is denoted by η0, and the viscosity of the molten glass (1) 9.1 m downstream from the upstream end of the molten metal bath (5) is denoted by η1, η1 - η0 ≥ 2.0 × 104 (Pa·s)
