Abstract:
A method for the production of a polycarbonate which uses one or more of filtering devices having laminated plural disk type filter elements having a outer diameter of 15 inches (38.1 cm) or less, a ratio of inner diameter/outer diameter of 1/7 or more and an aperture of 40 $g(m)m or less; and the filtering device. The filtering device can be used for removing foreign substances with good efficiency and at the same time inhibiting the occurrence of discoloration, crosslinking or gelation, and accordingly for producing a polycarbonate and a formed product therefrom having excellent quality. The production method and the filtering device are effectively used especially in producing a polycarbonate through the transesterification method.
