Abstract:

Disclosed are a method for production of a polyindigo fiber and a polyindigo fiber excellent in elastic modulus, heat resistance and the like. The method comprises the steps of: preparing a solution of a reduced polyindigo having a unit represented by the formula (1), a unit represented by the formula (2) or both thereof as a constitutional unit(s); and discharging the solution from a spinning nozzle and then oxidizing the discharged material. [Chemical formula] (1); and [Chemical formula] (2) wherein Ar represents an aryl group which may have a substituent.
