Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for production of a solid electrolyte composed of a conductive polymer by applying a solution containing a 5-membered heterocyclic compound as a polymerizable monomer onto the surface of a substrate to polymerize the monomer. In the method, as the solution containing the monomer, a solution containing the monomer and at least one selected from a dimer and a trimer of the monomer at a ratio satisfying the requirement indicated by the formula below onto the surface of a substrate to polymerize the monomer: (concentration of monomer)/(concentration of dimer of the monomer in monomer terms + concentration of trimer of the monomer in monomer terms) = 100-1,000,000. Alternatively, a solution of a compound having a thiophene skeleton and having an absorbance of 1.5 to 10 as measured at a wavelength of 300 to 340 nm may be applied onto the surface of a substrate to polymerize the compound. The solid electrolyte produced by the method is useful as a solid electrolytic capacitor element.
