Abstract:
The primary structure of protein or state of modification thereof is analyzed in detail. First, a PMF analysis of analyte protein is carried out (S101) to thereby achieve identification of a gene for the protein. Subsequently, a virtual mass spectrum and a mass spectrum obtained by mass spectrometry of sample protein are compared with each other to thereby extract unascribable peaks that do not correspond to the peaks of virtual peptide fragments (S102). Thereafter, the obtained unascribable peaks are analyzed so as to, with respect to the structure or properties of the protein, examine any modification of amino acid residue, amino acid substitution, variant formation, or presence or absence of terminal cut-off and type thereof (S103).
