Abstract:
A method for providing backup power for a cache and a related device. The device comprises: a power supply module, a backup power module, and a controller. The controller is used for detecting the power supply condition of the power supply module, and sending a backup power indication to the backup power module according to the power supply condition; the backup power module is used for supplying, according to the backup power indication, power to a cache connected to the controller. According to the device, by receiving the backup power indication from the controller, the backup power module in a computer apparatus can supply power to the controller and to the cache connected to the computer apparatus, such that no backup power module needs to be provided in the cache, the space in the cache does not need to be occupied, and the size of the cache can be reduced. Moreover, the backup power module in the computer apparatus has large backup power, and therefore, the power requirements for the cache during a power-off protection process can be met.
