Abstract:
A method for purifying pyruvic acid compound, comprising the steps of reacting a pyruvic acid compound represented by general formula (I) [wherein R?1� represents an optionally substituted lower alkyl group, a lower alkenyl group, a lower alkynyl group, a cycloalkyl group, an aryl group, or a heterocyclic group; and R?2� represents a lower alkyl group] with a bisulfite represented by the general formula (II): MHSO�3? [wherein M represents NH�4? or an alkali metal] to prepare an adduct of the acid compound with the salt, and decomposing the adduct with an acid. This method enables pyruvic acid compounds to be purified in a simple manner without using purification methods such as distillation or column chromatography, and hence is advantageous as an industrial production process.
