Title:
METHOD FOR QUANTIFYING BRAIN INJURIES
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2014/060695
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The invention relates to an ex vivo method for detecting and/or quantifying brain injuries. The invention also relates to an ex vivo method for monitoring the evolution of a brain injury, and to an ex vivo method for predicting when a patient will come out of a coma. For the evaluation of brain injuries, fractional anisotropy, axial diffusivity and radial diffusivity values obtained by magnetic resonance imaging are used. These measurements are also used to predict when a patient will come out of a coma, for which purpose an algorithm predetermined by a classification software program is used. The invention is particularly applicable in the field of medicine and in the field of clinical studies.
