Title:
METHOD AND REACTOR FOR DECONTAMINATING GROUNDWATER
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2000035812
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and a reactor for decontaminating groundwater using vertical shaft technology applied in well digging techniques, the production of horizontal filter wells and reactants. The invention aims at providing a method and a reactor of the above-mentioned type ensuring cost-effective and selective groundwater extraction from any horizons in order to conduct selective and reliable treatment (decontamination). This is achieved in that the contaminated groundwater (5) is introduced into a reactor (1, 2) at any given height below the groundwater table (9) and fed through a reaction chamber (1) with at least one reactant (2) depending on the desired retention period and removed from the reactor (1, 2) as purified groundwater (4) at a desired height, wherein the height of the groundwater line in the reactor (1, 2) is selected depending on the type and position of the contaminant in the groundwater (8).
