Abstract:
A method for real-time monitoring of usage of packet-based telecom services comprises: - communicating from a first server to a client (121, 122, 123) rate information; - local metering of usage of the packet-based telecom services in the client (121, 122, 123); - estimating in the client (121, 122, 123) usage costs based on the local metering and the rate information; and - displaying the usage costs (124, 125, 126) in the client (121, 122, 123); - sending from a second server (116) to the client (121, 122, 123) asynchronous usage notifications (151) indicative for network-metered usage of the packet-based telecom services; and - adapting in the client (121, 122, 123) the usage costs (124, 125, 126) based on the asynchronous usage notifications (151).
