Abstract:
A method for recovering bromine from a discharge produced upon p reparation of anilines by ammonolysis of bromobenzene substituted by a halogen atom or a functional group in the nucleus thereof, which comprises first treating the discharge with chlorine in an alkaline region to remove most of ammonia and anilines contained therein, then treating with chlorine in an acidic region to recover bromine. This method can be industrially practiced smoothly without danger of explosion.
