A method of catalyst recovery which comprises bringing a platinum element-containing catalyst contained in a hydrogenation reaction mixture into contact with an oxidizing agent to oxidize the catalyst, adding a complexing agent to the reaction mixture simultaneously with or after addition of the oxidizing agent to complex the catalyst, and separating out the complex yielded; and a process for producing a hydrogenated conjugated diene polymer which comprises: a reaction step (A) in which a conjugated diene polymer is hydrogenated in the presence of a platinum element-containing catalyst; an oxidation step (B) in which the catalyst contained in the reaction mixture is contacted with an oxidizing agent; a complexing step (C) in which a complexing agent is added to the resultant reaction mixture to yield a complex of the oxidized catalyst; and a catalyst recovery step (D) in which the complex yielded is separated from the reaction mixture which has undergone the complexing.
