Abstract:
A method for recovering information based on graceful restarting includes the steps of: sending a restarting message to the neighbor routers when a router is restarting, the neighbor routers include the upstream neighbor router and the downstream neighbor router of the router; receiving a path recovering message sent by the neighbor router, the path recovering message includes the information of the neighbor router; recovering the control information by the router according to the path recovering message. A router is also disclosed in the invention. By applying the embodiment of the invention, the ERO information of the control plane can be recovered accurately by combining the path recovering messages sent by the downstream neighbor router and the upstream neighbor router, i.e. the information of all status blocks in the router and the information of all objects in the status blocks can be recovered. Thereby the restarting router can obtain all needed control plane information, and the malfunction recovering ability of the control plane of the router is improved.
