Abstract:

A method of recovering nickel or cobalt which comprises: a step in which a first oxide ore (oxide ore (102a)) and a second oxide ore (oxide ore (102b)) having a higher magnesium content than the first oxide ore are prepared as oxide ores; a leaching step in which nickel or cobalt is leached from the first oxide ore with sulfuric acid (105) to obtain a sulfuric acid solution resulting from the leaching and containing nickel or cobalt (sulfuric-acid leaching liquid (108)) and a leaching residue (109); a reaction step in which the sulfuric-acid leaching solution containing the leaching residue (109) is reacted with the magnesium contained in the second oxide ore and the pH of the reaction mixture is adjusted to obtain a liquid reaction mixture (110) containing nickel or cobalt and a reaction residue (111) containing iron; and a neutralization step in which the liquid reaction mixture (110) containing the reaction residue (111) is neutralized with a neutralizing agent (112) to obtain a neutralized liquid (113) containing nickel or cobalt and a neutralization residue (114) containing iron.
