Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for recovering phenol and acetone from a bisphenol-A residue decomposition reaction product, the method being capable of improving economic feasibility and efficiency by utilizing a phenol/acetone purification process used in the production of bisphenol-A. The method for recovering phenol and acetone from the bisphenol-A residue decomposition reaction product is characterized by comprising the steps of: (a) decomposing and purifying cumene hydroperoxide, which is prepared by an oxidation reaction of cumene, to separate phenol and acetone therefrom; (b) separating bisphenol-A, which is prepared by a reaction of the separated phenol and acetone, and discharging and recovering a purge stream containing the non-separated bisphenol A or a part or the entirety of phenol to decompose the further concentrated purge stream under an alkali aqueous solution; and (c) feeding the reaction product by the decomposition reaction into the process of separating phenol and acetone, thereby separating phenol and acetone therefrom, wherein steps (a) and (c) are performed at the same time.
