Abstract:
Provided is a method for recovering highly pure scandium by effectively and economically efficiently removing iron from an acidic solution containing scandium while reducing loss. The scandium recovery method according to the present invention comprises: a deironization step for adding an alkali solution to an acidic solution containing scandium and thus separating iron contained in the acidic solution as hydroxide; and a neutralization step for neutralizing the post-deironization solution to give scandium hydroxide. The acidic solution containing scandium is a post-sulfurization solution recovered in a wet smelting method, said wet smelting method comprising leaching a nickel oxide ore with sulfuric acid, sulfurizing the thus obtained leachate by adding hydrogen sulfide gas thereto, and thus producing nickel sulfide and the aforesaid post-sulfurization solution. In the deironization step, an alkali solution adjusted to pH 13.0-14.0 is used as the alkali solution to be added to the post-sulfurization solution, and a detoxified drainage, which is obtained by detoxification, i.e., allowing the alkali solution to absorb the hydrogen sulfide gas remaining after the sulfurization treatment in the wet smelting, is used as the whole or a part of the alkali solution.
