Abstract:
A method for recovering transition metals from a lithium secondary battery, of the present invention, comprises the steps of: preparing a cathode active material from a cathode of a lithium secondary battery; generating a first leachate by treating the cathode active material with a first acidic solution containing a reducing agent that is smaller in amount than the amount corresponding to the reaction equivalent of the cathode active material; and generating a second leachate by treating, with a second acidic solution containing a reducing agent, the remaining cathode active material, that excludes a fraction contained in the first leachate, from the cathode active material. Therefore, manganese extraction rate and cobalt purity can be improved.
