Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for reducing the quantity of an oil-containing sludge, which is characterized by comprising bringing the oil-containing sludge into contact with water vapor and compressing the oil-containing sludge to separate the oil-containing sludge into oily water and a residue, wherein the temperature of water vapor to be contacted with the oil-containing sludge is 130 to 160°C and the pressure of water vapor is 0.27 to 0.62 MPa.
The method for reducing the quantity of an oil-containing sludge enables the reduction in the content of an oily material and the content of a harmful substance in the oil-containing sludge by a one-step operation to such levels that the oil-containing sludge can be disposed by landfill.
