Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for regenerating a catalyst for butadiene production by removing coke-like substances which have adhered to the catalyst for butadiene production and to the inside of a reactor as a result of the oxidative dehydrogenation of n-butene performed in the presence of the catalyst. The present invention is a catalyst regeneration method in which coke-like substances that have adhered to the inside of a reactor are removed, the reactor having been used in the oxidative dehydrogenation of a butene compound and being packed with a catalyst for butadiene production that had a given composition before the use. The method comprises a treatment step in which the reactor is treated with a first gas containing oxygen in an amount larger than 0 vol% but not larger than 21 vol% and a supply step in which a second gas containing water vapor in an amount larger than 0 vol% but not larger than 42 vol% and containing oxygen in an amount larger than 0 vol% but not larger than 21 vol% is subsequently supplied to the reactor. In the method, the temperature of a heat carrier circulating through the reactor is regulated to 200ºC or higher but lower than 400ºC, and the temperature of the heat carrier is made constant during the period from completion of the treatment step to completion of the subsequent supply step. The first and second gases differ in water vapor content.
