Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for regenerating an electrolyte solution for redox flow batteries, the method enabling suppression of the generation itself of aggregates, which are derived from a metal oxide formed by charging and discharging of a redox flow battery, or enabling re-reduction of generated aggregates by acting on an electrolyte solution that contains at least metal ions including manganese ions and the aggregates, thereby preventing the generation of aggregates that directly lead to a decrease in the capacity of the electrolyte solution and tremendously improving the service life of the electrolyte solution. This regeneration method comprises a contact step in which the electrolyte solution and an inert gas that may contain a reducing gas are brought into contact with each other, thereby making the average particle diameter of aggregates less than 5 µm.
