Abstract:
A method is provided in which polypropylene and a peroxide are kneaded using a kneading extruder equipped with a barrel, a screw having a first kneading blade part located most upstream and a second kneading blade part located downstream therefrom, a first throttling mechanism capable of changing the degree of filling with the polypropylene being kneaded in the first kneading blade part, and a second throttling mechanism capable of changing the degree of filling with the polypropylene being kneaded in a kneading blade part located downstream therefrom. When the polypropylene and the peroxide are thus kneaded, the degree of filling with the polypropylene is heightened by means of a gate device, and in the case where the polypropylene that has been kneaded in the most downstream kneading blade part has a temperature lower than a given temperature, the degree of filling with the polypropylene is heightened by means of a butterfly valve to thereby regulate the temperature of the polypropylene that has been kneaded in the most downstream kneading blade part to the given temperature or higher. Thus, polypropylene and a peroxide having a half-life period at 200ºC of 10 seconds or longer can be kneaded while regulating the viscosity of the polypropylene and inhibiting the peroxide from remaining therein, without considerably increasing the size of the kneading extruder.
