Abstract:
A method for removing chromium during smelting of a laterite nickel ore to ferronickel, comprising the following steps: (1) carrying out ore washing on a laterite nickel ore, performing separation to obtain mineral slurry and an ore, adding a lye and a bromate salt into the mineral slurry and introducing oxygen for oxidative leaching, and then carrying out solid-liquid separation to obtain a solid material and a chromium-containing filtrate; (2) washing the solid material obtained in step (1), then carrying out solid-liquid separation to obtain a solid phase and washing water, and mixing the solid phase with quicklime and a reducing agent to obtain a mixture; and (3) sequentially carrying out roasting and melting on the mixture obtained in step (2) to prepare a finished ferronickel product. The method can enhance enrichment of chromium element, allows for further removal of chromium impurities in ferronickel while smelting laterite nickel ores to obtain the ferronickel, and protects the safety of furnaces.
