Abstract:
A phorbol ester component is decomposed and removed from an organic material containing the phorbol ester component at low cost and high throughput, thereby producing an organic material having a high protein content. An organic material containing a phorbol ester is mixed with a Natto bacterium (Bacillus subtilis var. natto) to allow the Natto bacterium to ferment, thereby decomposing the phorbol ester. In this method, 4 parts by mass of the organic material containing the phorbol ester is mixed with 0.5 to 3 parts by mass of water, the resulting mixture is sterilized at a high temperature and a high pressure, a solution prepared by dissolving 0.004 to 0.2 part by mass of the Natto bacterium (Bacillus subtilis var. natto) in 0.5 to 1 part by mass of water is added to the mixture, and the resulting mixed solution is allowed to ferment at 30 to 50°C for 2 to 4 weeks.
