Abstract:
The present invention is a method for repairing cracks occurring in a cast steel member 10 because of thermal stress, wherein a crack 12 is eliminated by forming a groove 20 in the cast steel member 10, a metal member 50 having greater ductility than the cast steel member 10 and a shape corresponding to a space on the deepest side of the groove 20 is embedded in the groove 12 that has been formed, and the remaining space 26 in the groove 20 after the metal member 50 has been embedded is overlay welded with a welding material 70 having substantially the same softness as the cast steel member 10 and weldable with the cast steel member 10. Moreover, the metal member 50 includes nickel with a purity of 99.9% or greater. The welding material 70 includes nickel at 70% or greater by weight.
