Title:
METHOD OF REPROCESSING LIQUID PETROLEUM PRODUCTS AND A DEVICE FOR PROCESSING LIQUID PETROLEUM PRODUCTS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1996/013562
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The proposed method of reprocessing liquid petroleum products involves the reduction of the said products to droplets by continuous hydraulic atomization and subsequent thermal fractionation, the mean size of the droplets (11) not exceeding 0.30 mm and the interval between atomization and fractionation not exceeding five minutes. The device for reprocessing liquid petroleum products comprises the following elements connected by pipes (7): a container (1) for the initial liquid petroleum products (2); a collector (3) with a heating unit; a pump (4); and a spray head (5) with a flat-spray or deflector nozzle. To atomize the petroleum products (2) using shear stresses, a flat-spray nozzle is used with a cylindrical channel (16) which has a hemisphere profile (17) in the upper discharge section into which is cut an isosceles wedge profile; the top edge (18) of the wedge faces the stream of liquid petroleum products (2) and forms a right angle as it intersects the axis (19) of the channel (16). To effect atomization using compression stresses, use is made of a deflector nozzle containing a channel (12) and an inclined block (13); the axis of symmetry (15) of the channel (12) and the normal (14) to the surface of the block (13) where the latter intersects with the axis (15) form an acute angle 'alpha'.
