Title:
METHOD OF RESOLVING OPTICAL ISOMERS OF AMINO ACID DERIVATIVE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2002/036544
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A method of resolving optical isomers which comprises mixing in an aqueous solution an amino acid derivative in the form of a mixture of D- and L-isomers (for example, N-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)-DL-alanine) with a hydrophilic compound isomers (for example, $g(b)-cyclodextrin), and then bringing the resultant aqueous solution or aqueous suspension into contact with a hydrophobic substance (for example, a solid having been subjected to a hydrophobic surface treatment) at pH 3.5 or lower or in the coexistence of an ion containing an atomic group capable of serving as a counter ion to the above-described amino acid derivative (for example, triethylammonium ion) to thereby resolve the D-amino acid derivative from the L-amino acid derivative which are contained in the aqueous solution or the aqueous suspension.
