Abstract:

A method for reusing a steel sheet, which comprises recovering scraps of high tensile steel and ordinary steel without separation, melting the recovered scraps to produce a melt, and carrying out an adjustment of chemical composition of the melt wherein a sulfur content is controlled to 0.02 to 0.2 wt % when the melt contains 0.7 wt % of manganese, and a rare earth element or mish metal is added in an amount twice that of sulfur. When s spherical graphite cast iron is desired, a spheroidizing agent (preferably, an agent containing bismuth and no rare earth element) is added. The method allows the production of a cast iron having good quality even by the use of a steel sheet scrap containing a high tensile steel scrap with good efficiency at a relatively low cost.
