Abstract:
A method for reusing an end mill 1, wherein: an end mill (1) has a margin that is part of a circle with the same diameter as a shank portion (3) formed on the outer edge of a cutting portion (2); the base material for the end mill (1) is pre-manufactured so that the concentricity has the accuracy for concentricity required for the cutting portion (2); the shank portion (3) is the remaining unprocessed portion where the base material was not removed; the margin is part of the remaining outer circumferential face of the base material where the base material was not removed when forming the outer edge by removing the base material; and the cutting portion (2) is cut off when the cutting portion (2) has reached end of life and a new cutting portion 2 with the same outer diameter and the same accuracy for concentricity as the cutting portion (2) that was cut off is machined in the shank portion (3) by leaving the margin unmodified without removing any of the outer circumferential face of the shank portion.
