Abstract:
Provided are a method for sealing an optical unit whereby the space between members can be properly sealed using an elastic seal member, and an optical unit provided with this seal structure. When an elastic seal member (5) is arranged around an opening (82) of a receiving part (86) of an imaging element holder (8), a plurality of concavities (87), which open toward a substrate (62) on which an imaging element (61) is mounted and which are provided with side walls (870) inclined so that the open width widens in the open end side, are formed in the receiving part (86). A coating of a liquid composition is applied over an area encompassing the periphery of the opening (82), including the areas in the receiving part (86) where the concavities (87) are formed, after which the liquid composition is cured to form the elastic seal member (5). The substrate (62) is then pressed against and secured to the receiving part (86) while the elastic seal member (5) is elastically deformed. The elastic seal member (5), which comprises silicone rubber or the like, can be attached to and removed from the receiving part (86).
