Abstract:
Provided is a method for sensing methyl salicylate, which is a plant hormone released when an infection of a disease occurs, in cultivation of plants including agricultural crops, and thereby detecting, on site, an infection of a disease in a plant in an early stage. The present invention can detect an infection of a disease in a plant in an early stage by using, as a receptor for sensing, a zinc compound that selectively recognizes methyl salicylate, which is a plant hormone released when a plant is infected with a pathogenic microbe, and forms a complex, and by using a change in fluorescent emission or in electrochemical behavior after the zinc compound had reacted with methyl salicylate.
