A method of separating, purifying, or sorting a mixture, comprising the step of separating a liquid or solid mixture into constituent components on a surface selected from a smooth surface and a periodically irregular surface by means of a resultant force of a magnetic force acting in a horizontal direction and the gravity acting in the vertical direction. A magnetism gravity chromatograph used therefore is also disclosed.
