Disclosed in the present invention are a method for setting a communication shortcut and an electronic device. The method for adding a communication shortcut entry comprises: when a starting operation is received, opening an addition page on a communication application, N object identifiers being arranged on the addition page, and the N object identifiers being corresponding to N objects in a one-to-one manner; receiving a determining operation used for determining a target object identifier among the N object identifiers; and adding, according to the determining operation, a shortcut entry of a target window communicating with a target object corresponding to the target object identifier, to a desktop page, so as to invoke the communication application to load and display the target window when a shortcut operation for triggering the shortcut entry is received. The method and the device provided in the present application can resolve the problem in the prior art of complicated operation steps existing when a user performs chat communication by using a communication application on a smart phone. The technical effects for reducing the operation steps and improving the communication convenience degree are achieved.
